Tabekoi is a food journal and taste-matching app built on Apple Maps and Apple CloudKit. This page explains how your data is stored, shared, and controlled.

Privacy policy

What Tabekoi stores

Your ratings, comments, restaurant details, saved places, wishlist, vibe, wait time, cost, and selected photos are stored locally and in your private iCloud database when iCloud is available.

Anonymous taste matching

If you enable anonymous taste matching, Tabekoi publishes a random fruit name, restaurant identifiers, restaurant map information, and your scores so other users can compare taste patterns. It does not publish your Apple Account identity, friend name, comments, photos, searches, current location, or friend list.

Friend sharing

Friend journals use Apple CloudKit sharing. Access is limited to recipients you select and is read-only. Friends can see your chosen display name, shared journal, and only the entry photos you explicitly share with friends. You can revoke a share at any time.

Location and photos

Location access is optional and is used only while you use Tabekoi to center Apple Maps. Photo access is used only for images you choose. Journal photos remain private unless you separately choose friend sharing or community submission for that entry.

Community photo gallery

Community submission is separate from anonymous taste matching. Tabekoi removes embedded location metadata, uses your fruit name, limits public submissions, and sends photos through automated safety checks. Only approved copies appear publicly. You can report a photo or block its anonymous profile; uncertain photos are held for review.

Analytics

Anonymous analytics are off by default. If enabled, Tabekoi sends coarse action counts, app build, platform, and language. It never sends restaurant IDs, scores, comments, photos, searches, current location, friend names, or a persistent device identifier for analytics.

Delete or export your data

Open Tabekoi → You → Your data to export your journal or delete your local journal, private iCloud records, anonymous public taste profile, friend share, and secure local identity.

Security and service providers

Tabekoi uses Apple iCloud authentication, Apple CloudKit databases and sharing, Apple Maps, SwiftData, and iOS Keychain. We do not operate a separate password database, sell personal information, use advertising trackers, or allow arbitrary public access to private journals. Internet transport uses Apple platform security and App Transport Security.

Retention and choices

Data remains until you delete it, disable the relevant sharing option, remove the app’s local data, or Apple removes it under your iCloud account settings and policies. Anonymous matching, friend sharing, community photos, analytics, and location are independently controllable in the app or iOS Settings.
